  • The tremendous gain in production efficiency from modern technology allow us to produce 50% more cotton worldwide without increasing land use.
  • Integrated pest management strategies, enhanced technologies have resulted in reduced insecticide applications in the U.S.  These technologies are now spreading to the rest of the world.
  • According to the ICAC, the “indirect benefits of transgenic technology [widely adopted worldwide] include improved populations of beneficial insects and wildlife in cotton fields, reduced pesticide runoff, and improved farm worker and neighbor safety as well as soil-related environmental improvements through changed tillage practices with HT varieties”.
